Our Plans

To address these various needs, we have a plan that we believe will serve the parish in the most effective way and help fulfill our three parish goals, while enabling us to reduce our debt and contribute to the Diocesan campaign.

Build a New Ministry Center
Because St. Joseph Marello Parish is ahead of schedule in our payments on the current loan, the Diocese of Sacramento has granted us a special exception for an additional “church equity loan” in the amount of $1,200,000.  This will allow us to accelerate our Master Plan and build a new Ministry Center now in order to meet our need for more space. The Center will be about 4000 square feet with removable walls that will make 4 additional classrooms for formation, including youth classes, Bible Study, Adult Education, RCIA and other ministries. When the walls are moved back, there will be space to seat about 150-200 people allowing us to accommodate larger social activities at our parish. There will also be an extended overhang providing additional outdoor space for our social functions. The additional space will help us to respond to our call for community outreach, and better support St. Vincent DePaul, including their food and clothing drives.

Reduce Our Parish Debt
We plan to reduce the $2,600,000 debt previously owed to the Diocese, as well as begin paying down the additional $1,200,000 new “church equity loan.”  The sooner we retire our debt, the sooner we will have additional funds available for more parish activities and ministries.

Support Diocesan “The ONE” Campaign
Our plan is also to support the Diocesan capital campaign, “The ONE Campaign” and provide $358,000 to the Diocese over 4 years.

Build a New Kitchen
Finally, if enough funds are raised, our plan is to build a new kitchen in the existing church facility to enhance our social activities.
