Introduction

Immaculate Conception is a vibrant community that dates back to 1883.  For over 132 years, our parish has proclaimed the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of Somerville and surrounding areas. Our church today is an active community comprised of over 3,000 households and almost 1,000 students in our two schools. In addition, we provide religious education for about 600 children who attend public schools. There are only 25 churches nationwide that can lay claim to a parish-sponsored Pre-K – grade 12 educational system. Led by dedicated priests, deacons, Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and a very professional staff of laity and numerous volunteers, there are ample opportunities for people of all ages to participate in the spiritual, educational, social and service ministries of Immaculate Conception Parish.

Immaculate Conception School opened its doors in 1957 to approximately 300 students. The school is as vital as ever, as its current enrollment of 372 students attests. This enrollment will increase to 425 next year.  Under the patronage of Mary our Mother, the school remains committed to developing the spiritual, academic and emotional dimensions of each of its students.

Immaculata High School, founded in 1962, is a co-educational four-year Roman Catholic high school serving students in the Somerset/Hunterdon area and throughout Central Jersey. It has enjoyed extraordinary success graduating scholars who serve in leadership in education, business politics, medicine, art as well as athletics and many other fields. Immaculata provides students with an exceptional academic, spiritual, and extra-curricular program.  Guided by the Gospel and Catholic Church teachings, Immaculata is founded on the four pillars of Faith, Scholarship, Service, and Friendship.

With the purpose of continuing the legacy of excellence at Immaculata High School and Immaculate Conception Elementary School, initiation of fundraising projects are in order.  Just as the parish and wider community came together between 1957 and 1972 to establish and build two schools and a new church, so now we must rise to the challenge again and update and renovate.
